A young friend of mine was obsessed with T for years...it grew into a larger real train obsession and more advanced model trains. He gave me an excellent tour of the B&O railroad museum when he was about 7. He should be a docent. I think, at 13, he still secretly wishes he could grow up to be a train engineer. Though the bulk of the fascination waned by 10. He may come with us to take the girls to Thomas day.
My daughter, and even more especially her 1.5 year old cousin have a Thomas obsession. And they rarely see the DVDs, though they are quiet and likable. They have felts, books, and train engine or two. I think my neice has a stuffed Thomas now too, and DD has a hand-me-down towel from my young friend that she adores. It pictures 4 engines with their names.
